first day of spring --
under the snowman's hat
pastel m&m's

snapping
the hood back on my coat -
spring arrives

last day of winter -
ice smothers
the early buds

spring arrives --
new snow bleaches
old snowbanks

mid-March winds -
a too-warm coat
suddenly too thin

Spring arrives --
peeps melting
on the dashboard

the lawn crunches
