not sure i understand this. "no one told the river." shouldn't that be "no one told the ducks?" rivers never freeze. i think this knowledge would be inherent in the river's "mind."
Hi, Link. The river that flows at the end of my backyard (the Mohawk River in upstate New York) freezes solidly across its top virtually every winter. I've lived near it for almost 20 years and this is the first time there have been no ice-fishers in the middle of the River throughout most of the winter. It's about 1000 feet across at my location. When the ice starts breaking up, it often collects at a nearby trestle and the backup causes flooding in my neighborhood. You can read about the first attempts to bridge it at my f/k/a websitehere.
